National Workshop in Djerba, Tunisia
OSS organized on 26 and 27 September 2013 in Djerba a national workshop to report on the results of the “demonstration pilots” component of the SASS III project.
The meeting brought together representatives of national institutions in charge of water resources management and development, namely la Diréction Générale des Ressources en Eau (DGRE) and la Diréction Générale du Génie Rural et de l’Exploitation des Eaux (DGGREE), in the presence of their directors General as well as les Commissariat régionaux de développement agricole (CRDA) of the governorates of Gabes, Mednine, Kebili, Tataouine and Tozeur.
The rich debate on the reality and perspectives of irrigated agriculture in the South of Tunisia included a presentation on the general framework of the SASS problem and its local impacts in Tunisia. The presentation was followed by a report on the obtained results at the “demonstration pilots”.
With a view of disseminating the obtained results, operational recommendations will be formulated and validated by the SASS III project partners in Tunisia.
It should be noted that the present workshop on the “demonstration pilots” will be followed by a another workshop to report on the results of the “socio-economic” component, dedicated to the analysis of water use practices in irrigation.
