Pilot 1 focuses on the use of  the solar water pump (few hours a day with a reasonable flow rate) in order to restore the initial flow rate of foggaras and ensure an equal distribution of water with a view of upholding and restoring the oasis farming system.

The demonstrative component of this pilot has three main objectives:

• restore the initial flow rate of foggaras using solar-powered pumping few hours in the daytime;
• rehabilitate in a sustainable manner the oasis agricultural system, improve the efficiency of water in irrigation, and increase the farmers’ agricultural revenue without imposing any harmful impacts on the aquifer or soil.
